There is nothing before Eden, only flashes of a time before Danielle woke up in chains, in hell, to be violated and broken, over and over again. The priests want her to thank God, but the only thing she prays for is death. They say that God honors those who serve, that each baptism is a gift, but all Danielle wants is to die. Eden, however, has other plans.
Danielle's days are a constant cycle of abuse and torment. The priests, in their self-righteous fervor, demand that she be grateful for the "gift" of her suffering, that she should praise the God who has condemned her to this living hell. But her prayers are not for divine favor or eternal salvation – they are simply for the sweet release of death, to end the unending nightmare she has endured.
The memories of her life before this torment are hazy and fragmented, like distant dreams. She cannot recall a time when she was not chained, beaten, and violated. This existence, this hell on earth, is all she has ever known. The priests tell her that she must atone for her sins, that her suffering is a purification, a path to grace. But Danielle finds no solace in their words, no comfort in their false promises of redemption.
In the depths of her despair, Danielle occasionally glimpses a glimmer of hope, a possibility that there might be something more, something beyond this endless cycle of pain. But Eden, the cruel master who holds her captive, quickly snuffs out these fleeting moments of respite, reminding Danielle that she is powerless, that she belongs to him and him alone.
The years pass, and Danielle's spirit grows ever more weary, her will to live increasingly diminished. She longs for the sweet release of death, to be free from the torment that has become her entire world. But Eden, in his twisted cruelty, denies her even this small mercy, keeping her alive, if one could call it that, to serve his own sinister purposes.
In the end, Danielle's only hope is that somehow, someway, she will find the strength to break free from this living nightmare, to escape the clutches of Eden and the false prophets who hold her captive. Until then, she will continue to pray for the one thing that has eluded her for so long – the peace of oblivion, the end of her suffering.
